About our Blend:

Vitamin Blend: Riboflavin, Niacin, Zinc, Folic Acid –

Maca Root Extract –

Maca is a biennial herb somewhat similar to turnip or radish, and native to the High Andes. In Bolivia and Peru it’s an exceptionally nutritious staple root vegetable loaded with 31 different minerals and 60 different phytonutrients. Maca is alternatively ground into a baking flour, but as we note elsewhere, Maca has an alter ego.

Maca has been traditionally used as an aphrodisiac. It is a nourishing food for the endocrine system, aiding the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands. Although Maca is not a hormone in itself, by stimulating these glands it readily influences the production of estrogen, testosterone and progesterone, and supports hormone balance.

Vitex (Chaste Tree Berry) –

Native to the Mediterranean, Vitex is a small flowering tree or shrub with palm-like leaves, and sports a compelling display of intense dark violet-blue spikes of flowers. The aromatic leaves have often been used as seasoning, and the berries used like pepper.

Vitex is a wondrous herb for fertility, helping control a range of issues such as PMS, acne, low progesterone and estrogen, lack of ovulation, and irregular or failed menstrual cycles.

Studies have shown chaste tree berries can increase the luteal phase by several days, thereby multiplying the chances of successful conception.

Ginkgo Biloba Extract –

Ginkgo Biloba is one of the oldest living tree species and is deemed a ‘living fossil’. Gingko Leaf extract increases blood circulation and is high in flavonoids and terpenoids, both antioxidants. Often used for anxiety reduction, it is also thought to positively modulate female sexuality via enhanced blood flow through nitric oxide metabolism. Antioxidants like those found in ginkgo fight off free radicals and prevent them from damaging DNA and other cells.

Tribulus Terrestris Fruit Extract –

Fennel is a common herb many people use for cooking and healing.  Using only a modest amount of fennel is known to increase milk supply with the added benefit of helping counteract infant colic and alleviate and dispel gas both in mother and in baby, passing through the breastmilk.  Fennel is know to help with tummy upset, indigestion and heartburn, aids gently with bowel movements, and prevents associated cramping.  It’s been used for centuries to relieve menstrual problems and balance the menstrual cycle.

Epimedium –

Epimedium are a species of flowering perennial, popular as an evergreen groundcover and preferring a cool, moist, and shady locale. The common name Horny Goat Weed actually originated due to its visible effects on domestic animals. Epimedium in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Yin Yang Huo) has long been taken as a fertility supplement, whether in its raw state, in a tablet or as a powder.

Icariin, the active compound in Epimedium, contains phytoestrogens, a chemical which simulates female hormones. Icariin is known to stimulate natural hormone production in both men and women, and is a libido enhancer. Typically, it can take several days before the cumulative effects begin to be apparent.

Organic Shatavari Root –

Asparagus racemosus is an herb used in Ayurveda medicine and belongs to a family of phytoestrogenous plants. A distant cousin of the vegetable usually called asparagus, it is actually a thorny climbing vine with white flowers and red berries, and is common to India.

Shatavari aids healthy digestion, since the plant has anti-ulcer effects. It will also aid the immune system when antibodies are fighting off a threat. Said to have aphrodisiac, antidepressant and anxiety-reducing effects, it is also a powerful adaptogenic and is efficient in normalizing bodily functions, including the regulation of estrogen levels.

Dong Quai Root Extract –

Indigenous to the cool highlands of western and northwestern China, Korea and Japan, Angelica Dong Quai (Angelica sinensis) is reputed to be one of the most powerful female fertility tonic herbs. The yellow-brown root of this perennial shrub has been utilized in most Traditional Chinese herbal blood-building formulas for thousands of years. As a restorative herb, Dong Quai tones and strengthens the uterus by increasing blood flow to the reproductive system, regulating hormonal control and improving the timing of the menstrual cycle.

Dong Quai works by promoting blood flow to the pelvic region where it will stimulate an absent or scanty period. It also nourishes the blood and helps counteract iron deficiency and anemia.

Myo-Inositol & Melatonin –

Inositols are pseudovitamin compounds found in most foods, but the highest levels are found in whole grains and citrus fruits. While the term ‘inositol’ is often used with dietary supplements, it usually refers to a specific stereoisomer called myo-inositol.

In women with PCOS, modest doses of inositol have been seen to reliably and significantly increase ovulation and fertility rates. The pro-fertility and hormone balancing effects of myo-inositol appear to be either additive or synergistic with supplemental melatonin (a plant-sourced peptide hormone) and are further beneficial when paired with Vitamin B9 folic acid.

5-HTP –

Griffonia simplicifolia is an unassuming West African shrub with large distinctive seed pods, whose seeds are a rich source of an organic compound known as 5-HTP.

The human brain converts 5-HTP into serotonin. Serotonin is one of the principal neurotransmitters involved in happiness, anti-depression and as aphrodisiac.

Vitamins & Minerals Blend –

Folic Acid:

Folic Acid is known as the “pregnancy supplement” as women who are intending to conceive   should take 400 μg folic acid daily. This measure of B9 is critical in preventing something   known as ‘neural tube defects’ (NTDs) which can occur during fetal development.

Not only does Zinc boost your immune system, it is also one of the minerals that the body   uses to keep hormone levels (like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) stable   throughout the entire menstrual cycle. Zinc also aids in the production of DNA and even helps   to balance out your blood sugar. While a zinc deficiency won’t make you infertile, it can affect   the body’s normal functioning, which could make it harder for you to get pregnant.

Riboflavin and Niacin:

Known as Vitamins B2 & B3, these vitamins occur naturally in plants and animals. They have   been shown to reverse the risk of ovulatory infertility, by helping maintain the body’s   hormone balance.
